About us

Hello! My name is Rosemarie Caigoy (Dr. Rose) and I am a human body enthusiast!

I have worked in the wonderful world of rehab for the last 20 years with my initiation as an athletic trainer in high school. Back then, life was centered around Texas high school football (I am originally from El Paso) and being part of the high school sports med team awoke my passion  for the human body and it’s design.   This naturally led me to Kinesiology for my undergrad at UTEP.   While in undergrad, I worked for a Physical Therapy clinic as a PT Technician and Admin Assistant. In this environment I got to nourish my passion for rehabilitation of the body by working with physiotherapy tools, leading therapeutic exercises, and doing manual tissue work.  I also learned the ins and outs of how a physical rehab clinic systematically operates.  After graduating and putting in a decade in the physical therapy world, I was ready to move to a new environment and put forth my life experience thus far.  I chose to come to Oakland and my physical rehab journey continued as a wellness coordinator for Alameda Elders,  a geriatric physical therapy company that served different levels of living  facilities around the island. My job entailed working primarily with  degenerative conditions with a focus on improving quality of life.  After a couple of years, the company was undergoing a transition and intuitively it felt like a perfect time to go back to school.

I received my Chiropractic degree at Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward California.  There was one day in school that particularly stands out in my memory, the day I saw a dissected cadaver that showed how spinal nerves exit the spine.  At that moment I imagined the body as a cello and it shifted my perspective of what I thought I knew about health. I was able to visualize how the tone of our nervous system affects health. If the spinal tone was out of tune, the body cannot operate at it’s best capacity.

I have the utmost respect for everyone’s individual make up and understand that what works for one person, may not work for another.  This is where the art of healing comes in:  exploring what works for who.  It would be my honor to join you in your process of healing.  Thank you for your support and trust and in return my promise to you is to work from my heart and to the best of my ability.

Tessa Shimizu – Administrative Assistant

I am a Japanese/American artist, born and raised on the border of Switzerland. In 2013 I moved to the Bay Area to attend California College of the Arts and received my BFA in 2017. Driven by the world around me, I translate my observations and understandings primarily through the tools of analog photography, embracing the surreal and abstracted elements of analog processes as a whole. In March 2018, I co-founded a P.O.C photography collective called “& The Others” with the intent of cultivating community through the acts of creating, sharing ideas, critiquing, supporting one another and placing our work in the context of something larger than ourselves.

In starting work with Itono Chiropractic this year, I have developed a deeper understanding and appreciation of how inner health can play a large role in one’s everyday life – having an affect on one’s creativity, nutrition, interpersonal relations, energy, routines, mental health etc. With that in mind, I aim to support Dr. Rose and our patients in facilitating the healing and strengthening process as best as I can. As I continue to work and learn from this environment, I hope to encourage and help others in bringing their body back in tune!

WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC?

Chiropractic is a preventative wellness field that improves the communication between your brain and your body by way of an adjustment, done by hand, to a misaligned spinal vertebrae.

If you think about your body like a computer, (simply speaking, the body operates so much more dynamically) and disease as a downloaded virus, an adjustment would be an upgrade to the system!

WHAT TO EXPECT UPON YOUR  FIRST VISIT

During your initial visit we will first go over your medical history and any ailments that brought you in.   We will then get started on doing a full body evaluation including vitals, ortho, and neuro tests.  If there is time after the evaluation, Dr. Rose will do a soft tissue treatment.

We will email you a nutritional assessment to complete by your next visit.

Upon your second visit, Dr. Rose will give you a report of what was found during the evaluation and go over the recommended treatment plan. We will then start your first treatment.

Your first visit will take 1 hour.

Your 2nd visit will take 45 minutes.
